While the wedding party took photos, the guests enjoyed passed appetizers. The most popular appetizer, by far, was a tasty scallop wrapped in maple-glazed bacon. This particular nibble led to loud yells of "BACON!" by random people (only from our table, of couse) whenever we spotted the lucky server carrying a whole tray of it.

"We should just yell 'BACON!' every few minutes," Laurie said, "whether or not there actually is any bacon nearby."

Five minutes later, therefore, I yelled "BACON!" though there was no bacon in sight. This false alarm led other people (Sarah and Robert, especially) to lament the dearth of bacon and run off in search of bacon--or at least in search of the waitress carrying a tray of it.

Then, a few rounds of bacon later (and to commemorate Miriam's glory moment of carrying a tray or pigs in the blanket at Chris and Laurie's wedding earlier this summer), Laurie set off on her own search for bacon.

The Adventures of Laurie: A Quest for Bacon

"Something's missing--where's the bacon?"

"Excuse me, can you help me? I'm looking for bacon!"

"Great, just bring it right over here. . ."

"Right this way. . . "

"Keep it coming. . . "

"Wow! BACON! Yeah! We rejoice in its bacon-y goodness!"

"Ah, bacon! Thanks, Laurie! You can bring us bacon anytime!"
